Ultra-high precision diamond balls
Diamond Materials produces high precision diamond balls with excellent sphericity and perfect surface finish. The balls consist of a silicon-carbide core and a thick(50-100 μm) polycrystalline CVD diamond coating. Polycrystalline diamond is extremely wear resistant. It even exceeds the wear resistance of single crystal diamond.
These balls are mainly used as probe tips in metrology. Especially under abrasive conditions (e.g. hard materials or scanning surfaces) they offer considerable advantages: Long service life, significantly reduced wear and the scanning of moving surfaces without material build-up.
